Ready to test your Italian spelling? ✍️
In Italian primary schools, il dettato was a classic spelling test. The teacher would read aloud single words or short phrases, often containing tricky spellings, and pupils had to write them exactly as they heard them.
This version is much kinder. Today’s dettato focuses on one of the biggest challenges in Italian spelling: double consonants.
You’ll hear my real voice reading each word, just like a traditional classroom dettato.
Listen carefully, choose the correct spelling, and see how many you can get right.
