A summer in the library 📖
I grew up in a small village in Sardinia, where our little library was just a short walk from the church. I was an avid reader, and one long, hot summer when I was about thirteen, I started borrowing two or three books every week.
Afternoons were pennichella time. My parents and the rest of the family would rest or nap, while I would disappear into my books for hours.
But three months is a long summer when your village library is very small. Eventually, I had worked my way through so many books that the librarian didn't quite know what to give me anymore.
So she started suggesting Kafka and other rather serious authors.
I was thirteen. I tried. Kafka won. Before long, I was taking la pennichella with everyone else.
